Focus Guard is a website-blocking browser extension that helps you stay focused. Your privacy is simple to explain: the extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Everything it does happens locally in your browser.
Focus Guard stores only your own settings — the blocklist categories you enable,
your allowlist, your YouTube keyword list, your work-hours schedule, and a local
counter of how many times you were redirected. This is saved with the browser's
chrome.storage.local API on your device only.
To do its job, the extension checks the destination URL of top-level navigations against your local blocklist and, on YouTube watch pages, reads the video title/channel to compare against your keyword list. All of this is processed on your device and discarded immediately; none of it leaves your browser.
Focus Guard offers an optional one-time "Pro" unlock. Payment is processed by Stripe on Stripe's own hosted checkout — the extension never sees or handles your card details. After payment you receive a Pro key tied to your email; the extension stores that key and email locally only, to remember that you've unlocked Pro. Key validity is checked on your device using a public key built into the extension — no account, and nothing about your browsing is sent during this.
Because nothing is stored off your device, uninstalling the extension removes all of its data. You can also clear it anytime from the extension's settings.
